چکیده

In this paper, we present a passive linear skin stretch device that can provide proprioceptive feedback for multiple degrees of freedom (DOF) in a prosthetic hand. In a 1-DOF virtual targeting task, subjects performed as well with our device as with a vibrotactile array, and significantly better (p < 0.05) than having no feedback at all. In a 3-DOF grip recognition task, subjects were able to classify six different grips with 88.0% accuracy. Training took 6 minutes and the average time to classification was 5.2 seconds. Subjects were also able to match a set of target grip apertures with 11.1% error on average.

Pareto Optimization of a Two-degree of Freedom Passive Linear Suspension Using a New Multi-objective Genetic Algorithm (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The primary function of a suspension system of a vehicle is to isolate the road excitations experienced by the tires from being transmitted to the passengers. In this paper, we formulate an optimal vehicle suspension design problem with the quarter-car vehicle dynamic model. A new multi-objective genetic algorithm is used for Pareto optimization of a two-degree of freedom vehicle vibration mode...

Simulation of Human Foot Mechanism with a Degree of Freedom Motion

The need for simulation of human foot mechanism has made researchers and engineers move towards different patterns to describe this movement. In this regard, optimal solutions such as energy consumption, accuracy, etc. are of utmost importance. In this paper, efforts have been made to present a new solution by designing a fully two-dimensional six-bar mechanism with one degree of freedom so tha...

The Role of GenuTrain in the Management of Knee Pain

1 [email protected] 09/11/2009 Rotating a joint stretches the soft tissues on one side of the joint and relaxes them on the other side. All the soft tissues around joints contain mechanoceptors neurons that are activated by stretch. Thus stretch responses of mechanoceptors potentially contain information about joint displacement or movements, and are therefore of interest to study motor...

Optimization of Ankle-Foot Prosthesis with Active Alignment by Passive Elements

Today, often ankle’s active prosthesis is used for transtibial amputated people’s walking, because these prostheses have some advantages such as increasing power and decreasing metabolism. In most of active prosthesis in order to create a movement or increase the force at the push-off, electrical actuators are used like a motor. In cases where a higher-power motor is necessary, the capacity, we...

Sensor fusion and computer vision for context-aware control of a multi degree-of-freedom prosthesis.

OBJECTIVE Myoelectric activity volitionally generated by the user is often used for controlling hand prostheses in order to replicate the synergistic actions of muscles in healthy humans during grasping. Muscle synergies in healthy humans are based on the integration of visual perception, heuristics and proprioception. Here, we demonstrate how sensor fusion that combines artificial vision and p...
